STJ: Lobbyist defense sees no reason for STF investigation – 10/21/2025 – Brasília Hoje

The defense of the lobbyist, the main person investigated in the investigation that deals with offices of the (Superior Court of Justice), questioned this Tuesday (21) the need for the investigations to continue under the report of the minister, of the (Supreme Federal Court).

The investigations began last year and have not, to date, found any suspicions regarding authorities with special jurisdiction in the Supreme Court — as is the case with STJ ministers.

At the STJ, only servers are investigated. In addition to them, in the set of investigations into the case there are related suspicions, lawyers and other lobbyists.

Andreson’s lawyer, Eugênio Pacelli, questioned access to investigation information by the press. He said that “apparently, only this defense is complying with and respecting the secrecy imposed on the investigation”, and that he has “avoided commenting on what should not be made public, according to the decision of the reporting minister”.

“But there is something that needs to be said: this investigation began more than a year ago, with arrest and several other precautionary measures. This is public knowledge, unfortunately,” said the lawyer.

“But to date, no single reason has been identified as to why this investigation is in the STF. There are no authorities with jurisdiction in that Court being investigated! Jurisdiction conditioned on a future and uncertain event?”, he asked.

According to a PF report filed last month, the investigation continues at the Supreme Court for three reasons.

The first is to prevent measures considered sensitive, including on the premises of the STJ itself, from being annulled. Another reason is to protect the investigation against external interference. The third is to preserve the possibility that new evidence may involve authorities with jurisdiction in the STF — such as the ministers themselves.

In the inquiry, Andreson’s defense has already questioned the Supreme Court’s competence to continue with the investigations. STJ ministers have already been divided, subject to reservations, regarding the investigations continuing at the Supreme Court.

The investigations were sent to the STF last year because a report from Coaf (Financial Activities Control Council) mentioned a financial operation related to an authority with jurisdiction in the court.

In addition to ministers of the STJ, members of the Supreme Court themselves have jurisdiction in the STF, as well as federal parliamentarians, ministers of state, the (Federal Audit Court) and the President of the Republic.

However, the investigations did not advance into suspicions in this regard and began to focus on advisors, lawyers and lobbyists who surround the courts, in addition to other investigations involving state courts of justice.
