The actor Tony Ramos, 77, recalled the subdural hematoma which resulted in him needing to undergo two brain procedures in May 2024.
During his participation in the 18th Longevity Forum, on Tuesday (21), he was talking about his life choices when he remembered the “surprise” imposed by fate last year.
“I can be surprised by a disease or an event, like I was surprised a year and a half ago, right? With a subdural hematoma. And this all passes, like a roulade effect. And life goes on. So, what I seek is knowledge”, he said.
“I’m looking for a way not to change what I know is good for me. That is, to continue being a man in touch with life, never wanting to be a superhero. Nor to demonstrate that I am a superhero to my children, but to demonstrate that I am a peaceful human being, who makes mistakes and who increasingly seeks to take care of me, to treat me”, he added.
In May 2024, he was hospitalized after discovering a condition characterized by the accumulation of blood in the brain, in the region between the brain and the skull. He underwent two surgeries to drain the blood at the time and was released about a week later.
According to the actor, the cause of the bleeding was an infection with the Epstein-Barr virus, known for causing the disease mononucleosis. The virus infects nasopharyngeal cells and lymphocytes, which are defense cells, and then spreads throughout the body.
