North American president stated that the 50% tax charged to Brazil is the only reason for the sector’s improvement

The President of the United States, Donald Trump (Republican), said this Wednesday (22.Oct.2025) that North American livestock farmers are only doing well because of the 50% tariff on imports from Brazil. Brazilian meat was not included in the list of tariff exceptions.

“The ranchers, who I love, don’t understand that the only reason they are doing so well, for the first time in decades, is because I have imposed tariffs on cattle coming into the United States, including a 50% tariff on Brazil. The Brazilian government is trying to reverse the decision. The president (PT) had a videoconference conversation with Trump at the beginning of the month and is now negotiating a face-to-face meeting. The expectation is that the bilateral (26.Oct), in Malaysia.
