Bombogenesis is a rapid intensification of an extratropical low pressure zone – the Atmospheric pressure in the center drops by at least 24 hectopascals (hPa) in just one day. It is a large-scale mid-latitude storm.
The phenomenon causes an extremely strong storm, the so-called “bomb cyclone”: there is winds violent, precipitation intense and may appear storms e floods. It may also snow in the highlands.
