Carolina Afonso, born in Fuzeta, in the municipality of Olhão, was distinguished in the Digital Marketing and Communication Professional category of the ACEPI Navegantes XXI Awards – Digital Leaders 2025.
The distinction, awarded by the Digital Economy Association (ACEPI), results from the vote of 25 jury members, all professionals in the digital sector, who evaluated more than 200 nominees in ten categories.

The awards ceremony took place this Wednesday, during , in Lisbon, one of the largest national events dedicated to the digital economy.
Upon receiving the award, Carolina Afonso highlighted the importance of collective work and valuing origins: “No professional path is achieved alone, and this award is also about the people, projects and brands that believed in the importance of digital transformation and communication with purpose”, she stated.
The professional added that the recognition is shared with everyone who has accompanied her over the last two decades: “A recognition that I share with all the teams and partners with whom I have had the privilege of working over these 20 years. And with my students, who make this an even greater purpose.”

In an inspiring tone, Carolina Afonso also highlighted her pride in representing the Algarve in the national panorama of digital innovation: “May this award be inspiring as it is proof that it is possible to reach big stages from ‘small’ places. I am from Fuzeta, in the Algarve, with great pride. We are the size of our dreams and we can be local and global.”
Currently, Carolina Afonso is a university professor at ISEG – Lisbon School of Economics & Management, global director of Innovation and Transformation at Jerónimo Martins and author of several books in the digital area.
