Flamengo: qual a lesão de Pedro? Será desfalque por quanto tempo? image

Striker Pedro, from Flamengo, had a fracture in his forearm confirmed after tests carried out in the early hours of this Thursday (23). The player left the pitch in the second half of the 1-0 victory over Racing, in the Libertadores semi-final, using an immobilization on his right arm.

The number 9 was sent for medical evaluation after feeling severe pain in the area. The imaging tests showed a non-displaced fracture in the ulna, as reported by the club itself in an official note. According to information from the newspaper O Globo, Flamengo ruled out the possibility of carrying out repair surgery.

For the athlete’s recovery, the protocol chosen was to immobilize the area and carry out daily reassessments. With this, it will be possible to know when Pedro will be able to return to the pitch.

How was Pedro’s injury?

The move that caused the injury happened at the beginning of the second half, in a ball dispute with Sosa, Racing’s midfielder. In an attempt to protect himself, Pedro stretched out his arm and ended up getting the worst of the fight. Even though he was in pain, the attacker remained on the field for longer, being replaced only in the 27th minute of the final stage.

During this period, the player received medical attention on the side of the field, but tried to continue in the match. As the discomfort increased, the technical committee opted for immediate replacement.

Images from the game showed Pedro visibly uncomfortable and holding his right arm as he left the pitch. The attacker was taken to the hospital directly from Maracanã, where he underwent tests that confirmed the diagnosis of the fracture.

Next steps in Pedro’s recovery

It is not yet confirmed whether Pedro will be left out of the second leg of the Libertadores semi-final against Racing, next Wednesday (29), in Argentina.

The red and black squad will return this Thursday afternoon (23), at Ninho do Urubu, to begin preparation for the duel against Fortaleza, valid for the Brazilian Championship. On Friday, the team will have its last training session before the trip.
