Former general secretary of Fernando Henrique Cardoso and historical disaffection of Ciro Gomes, Eduardo Jorge presented a proposal to challenge the former governor of Ceará’s affiliation with the State’s PSDB.
In the document, Jorge says that Ciro has unseemly personal conduct, notorious and blatant hostility to the party and disrespectful attitudes towards party leaders and is incompatible with the principles of the party.
Jorge reports episodes in which he questioned the integrity of Tucano governments and allegedly acted in an “aggressive” and “disrespectful” manner against journalists.

“The history of legal disputes against PSDB figures, combined with frequent public statements, makes up a consistent pattern of hostility and disrespect towards party leaders”, says Jorge.
The two have already engaged in a legal dispute. In 2000, Ciro called Eduardo Jorge corrupt.
“I’m not stupid. This Eduardo Jorge is corrupt and worked in the president’s anteroom. It’s an omission. I’ve always defended that the mission of a serious politician is not to steal and not let people steal. Taking advantage of my methodology: I think Fernando Henrique doesn’t steal, but he lets people steal”, said Ciro, who was campaigning for the Planalto Palace.

The case ended up in court, and Ciro Gomes was ordered by the Court of Justice of the Federal District to compensate the former general secretary of FHC to pay R$3,000 in compensation.
In the text sent to other toucans, Jorge says that his representation “is in fact unacceptable for any toucan who has respect for the history of this party and Ciro’s harmful actions in relation to our historical leaders – such as Fernando Henrique and Jose Serra”, he stated.
That same year, Ciro Gomes attacked the PSDB and FHC. “The economic framework that they (the Fernando Henrique Cardoso government) implemented destroyed the country”, he said, when again running for President of the Republic.
The list of attacks on FHC is extensive. Still during the presidential campaign in 2001, Ciro called the former president “despicable”; in 2004, he said that FHC “broke Brazil three times”.
