GNR closes restaurant in the south of the country: find out what they saw in these 16 packages of frozen foods

The GNR closed a restaurant in Ermidas do Sado, in the municipality of Santiago do Cacém, after an inspection detected several flaws in the hygiene, conservation and operating conditions of the space. The action, carried out by the Alvalade do Sado Territorial Post on October 20th, also resulted in the seizure of 16 packages of frozen food products that had expired.

According to the website 24 Notícias, the establishment was subject to inspection as part of control operations in the restaurant and beverage sector. The authorities found multiple violations of current public health regulations, which led to the immediate closure of the space.

Irregularities detected during inspection

Rules that establishments must comply with

These systems must guarantee adequate health protection conditions and include treatment processes that ensure the potability of the water.

Additional air conditioning requirements

According to the same source, establishments where the existence of air conditioning systems is required must guarantee independent temperature regulation in the different areas intended for users. In cases where ventilation or heating is mandatory, the installed units must allow the temperature to be adjusted in order to maintain an adequate environment.

The Regulatory Decree also defines the minimum conditions for sanitary facilities intended for customers. These must have running water, be separated by sex and have a small vestibule with two doors, in order to ensure the necessary isolation in relation to the service areas and dining rooms. Walls, floors and ceilings must be covered with resistant, waterproof and easy to clean materials.

Closing determined on site

Also according to , the combination of infractions detected, including the improper preservation of food products and non-compliance with hygiene standards, led the GNR to order the immediate closure of the establishment. The measure aimed to guarantee food safety and the protection of public health until conditions are regularized.

The authorities maintain supervision on the ground, with regular actions to control compliance with health rules in the restaurant and beverage sector.
