President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) stated this Thursday, 23rd, in Jakarta (Indonesia), that he will seek a fourth term in the 2026 elections. The PT member told the president of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, that he will still meet him “many times”, suggesting that he will remain in power beyond next year.
“I’m going to turn 80, but you can be sure that I have the same energy that I had when I was 30 years old. You can be sure, I’m going to run for a fourth term in Brazil. I’m saying this because we’re still going to meet many times. This term of mine only ends in 2026, at the end of the year, but I’m prepared to run for other elections,” said Lula, during a joint statement to the press alongside Subianto, at the Merdeka Palace.
The meeting between the two presidents took place in a relaxed tone. Subianto, who turned 74 last week, invited Lula, who turns 80 on Monday the 27th, to a joint birthday party on Thursday night.
