Milei thanked the chancellor for being ‘an instrumental part of the largest bilateral agreement in Argetina’s history with the United States’

The announced this Thursday (23) the replacement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gerardo Werthein, by Pablo Quirino, current Secretary of Finance and member of the economic nucleus of the president’s government. Werthein presented his resignation on Wednesday (22), which will take effect from Monday (27).

The text highlights that Milei thanked the chancellor for having been “an instrumental part, together with the Ministry of Economy and the Argentine embassy in , of the largest bilateral agreement in the history of our country with the “.

Quirino, described as a “fundamental piece in the construction of the Argentine miracle”, will take charge of foreign policy with the mission of “deepening the link between the chancellery and the Ministry of Economy” and reinforcing “the pro-market vision of management facing the second stage of the government”.

The note also informs that the new minister will focus on “opening Argentina to the world”, signing trade agreements to strengthen the insertion of local producers in international markets. Milei’s office states that Quirino will continue “building international alliances”.

Milei’s government will face a test of popularity in the legislative elections that take place on Sunday (26). A defeat for his party could increase uncertainty about the adoption of economic reforms that the president still wants to approve for the country. In addition to Werthein, the Argentine Minister of Justice, Mariano Cúneo Libarona, will leave his post next week.
