Russia accuses a NATO member country of threatening Putin's plane: "Ready to commit terrorist acts"

Tension between Poland (member country) and Russia continues to rise. Following the repeated violations of airspace by Russian drones over the last few weeks, now the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov has accused Poland of threatening Putin’s plane.

Everything has been due to some statements from the Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorskiin which he pointed out that could not guarantee that Putin’s plane would not be forced to land on Polish territory if he entered the country’s airspace to go to his meeting with Trump in Hungary (a meeting between the Russian president and the American who).

According to the Russian state news agency TASS, Lavrov said that “I recently heard that Mr. Sikorski (the Polish foreign minister) threatened that the safety of Putin’s plane would not be guaranteed in Polish airspace if he flew to Budapest for the proposed summit with Trump.

The conclusion that the Russian Foreign Minister has drawn from those words of Radoslaw Sikorski is that “the Poles are now ready to commit terrorist acts themselves.”

However, the Polish minister’s words are not framed in the possibility of attacking Putin’s plane but in the issued against the Russian president by the International Criminal Court in March 2023.

In this sense, it should be noted that the arrest order was issued due to the alleged responsibility of Vladimir Putin in the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia during the Ukrainian war.

Specifically, the arrest warrant applies to any territory under the jurisdiction of the member states of the International Criminal Court (among which is Poland) and this includes airspace. That is why Sikorski mentioned that he could not guarantee that Putin’s plane would not be forced to land if it entered Poland.
