In the Sunday political debate on Moderator Václav Moravec (51) and the guests ran out of patience. Minister of Agriculture Marek Výborný (KDU-ČSL), head of Pirates Zdeněk Hřib, MP Patrik Nacher (ANO) and until recently the main speaker at anti-government and anti-system demonstrations Jindřich Rajchl (PRO) met at one table.
An experienced moderator, who has been moderating his program Otázky Václav Moravec for many years, tried to calm the bickering foursome and direct the discussionto benefit the viewer as well, but any warnings were in vain. That’s why he decided to take a radical step in the live broadcast.
When it reached the stage where the politicians started shouting at each other and not listening to anyone, Moravec spoke up. “I’m ending this debate early for one simple reason. Either you respect the topics and the moderator, or the debate is pointless. I’m sorry, the debate is already pointless. I’m trying to be polite, not to interrupt you and ask you to answer the questions that the moderator asks, which you did not respect. I thank the re-elected deputies and I look forward to another debate sometime where you respect the topics,” announced and ended the program early.
The actions of the moderator, which surprised even the deputies themselves, divided the Czechs, reports the website. Some stood up for Moravec and admired his calm, but vigorous approach. Others, on the other hand, blamed him for patronizing the guests of specific parties and not being able to be objective. One of the commenters even suggested that his program be canceled and replaced by another one.
