The Hiper China store, which was completely destroyed in a fire in Setúbal last Tuesday night, is being targeted by looters. A video circulating on social media shows several women removing apparently intact pieces of clothing from the wreckage.
The fire started at 7:08 pm and was only controlled about an hour and a half later. The flames were so large that around a hundred people had to be evacuated from neighboring buildings. Two firefighters suffered burns to their upper limbs and were hospitalized, only returning to their homes the following morning.
According to sources from the Setúbal PSP Command, cited by Correio da Manhã, the owners of the Hiper China store did not respond to calls after the incident. Therefore, and by joint decision of the PSP, firefighters and Civil Protection, the main entrances were protected only with stalls.
In the early hours of this Thursday, there was a new report that the store was being looted. A patrol passed by the location, but found no one. The Setúbal Judicial Police continues investigations into the causes of the fire.
