Palmeiras suffered a heavy blow in the first leg of the Copa Libertadores 2025 semi-final when they lost 3-0 to LDU Quito, at an altitude of almost 2,850 meters.

One of the moves that marked the defeat was the penalty converted by Lisandro Alzugaray, originating from a handball by Andreas Pereira inside the area.

The midfielder himself and the team’s situation.

I think we conceded the three goals very quickly. About my shot there, it was a ball that was very close to me, I tried to withdraw my arm as much as possible, but that’s it. We know we need to play a perfect game. Let’s analyze, watch the videos, understand what we did wrong to correct it and play a perfect game, with great humility. We know that nothing is impossible in football”, said Andreas.

The midfielder also spoke about the impact of the altitude, but added that the condition is no excuse for the result.

“The altitude got in the way, we knew there would be this factor, but we can’t use that as an excuse. We have to work, improve and believe. With a lot of humility, a lot of faith and with the support of our fans at home, we know we can make things happen”, he added.

The return game against takes place on the 30th (Thursday), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), at Allianz Parque.
