Fire in bus accident leaves 20 dead India, says local media

A fire caused by a fuel leak following a collision between a private bus and a motorcycle, on the route between the cities of Bengaluru and Hyderabad, in southern India, killed at least 20 people, local media reported this Friday (24), citing authorities.

“Of the 41 passengers, 21 were rescued,” A Siri, a district revenue official, told news agency ANI. “Among the rest, the bodies of 11 have been identified so far.”

A similar accident last week killed 20 people in , in the west of the country, when a private bus caught fire.

Although India is the world’s third-largest car market, it has some of the most dangerous roads, with road accidents last year killing about 180,000 people across the country, officials said in January.
