The Federal Institute of Acre (Ifac) inaugurated, this Wednesday (10/22), the multi-sports gymnasium on the Tarauacá campus. The ceremony was attended by managers, employees, students and guests, marking a moment of celebration and recognition for the partners who contributed to the completion of the work.

Rector Fábio Storch highlighted the importance of the work, which, in addition to strengthening students’ comprehensive training, the new gymnasium reinforces Ifac’s commitment to promoting quality of life, well-being and social inclusion through sport and culture. “The structure is prepared to serve both the curricular activities of campus courses and projects aimed at the Tarauacá community, consolidating the Institute as a hub for educational and social development in the interior of Acre.”

The event was also marked by tributes to former federal deputy Jesus Sérgio, author of the parliamentary amendments that made the construction possible, and to former dean Rosana Cavalcante, remembered in the speech given by the current rector, Fábio Storch. “The Tarauacá Campus gymnasium was born from the commitment of former federal deputy Jesus Sérgio, the dedication of former rector Rosana and the continuity that we gave with great care throughout this first year of management. Congratulations to director Denis Borges and the entire community for this beautiful moment”, highlighted the rector.

Student Ana Cristina Nunes Araújo, in the second year of the Forestry Technician course, highlighted the joy of participating in the organization of the gymnasium for the ceremony. According to her, the collective effort to conquer space makes each moment even more special. “I was very happy to help organize the space for the inauguration, because we worked hard to have it. The court is a legacy that will remain for the next generations of students. It is a space that will continue to unite and inspire many people”, he stated.
Work resulting from partnerships – The general director of the Tarauacá campus, Denis Borges, publicly thanked former deputy Jesus Sérgio for his support and partnership during his parliamentary term. “I want to thank all the commitment and dedication of the deputy, who contributed not only with the resources for this gym, but also with amendments that benefited our students, such as the lighting of BR-364, in front of the campus, and the construction of the third entrance to the city, facilitating access for students”, he highlighted.
In his speech, former deputy Jesus Sérgio highlighted the relevance of the gym for Ifac and Tarauacá. “When we met with Dean Rosana at the time, we realized the importance of this gym not only for the Institute, but for the entire community of Tarauacá and its students. As a teacher, I know how much of a difference this space will make,” he declared.

With 1,595.16 m² of built area, the gym has a multi-sports court of official dimensions (20 x 40 meters), suitable for practicing different sports, such as futsal, volleyball, basketball and handball. The environment will also be able to host cultural events, academic ceremonies, student fairs and community integration actions, expanding its role beyond sport.
The space has stands with capacity for around 300 people, men’s and women’s bathrooms and changing rooms, accessible facilities for people with disabilities and a 17 m² sports equipment storage room. At the top, there is an open mezzanine of 81 m², in addition to two support rooms, with areas of 27 m² and 15 m², which can be used for theoretical classes, equipment storage and extension project meetings.
