Deputy Moses Rodrigues (União-CE) is chosen as rapporteur of the process that investigates the conduct of deputies while occupying the Chamber’s Bureau

The president of the Ethics Council of Deputies, Fábio Schiochet (União-SC), appointed this Friday (24) deputy Moses Rodrigues (União-CE) as rapporteur for the process that investigates the conduct of deputies Marcel Van Hattem (Novo-RS), Marcos Pollon (PL-MS) and Zé Trovão (PL-SC). The information was confirmed by the president to the report, who also said that he wants to finalize the case before the holidays at the end of the year.

The targeted deputies are accused of participating in the occupation of the Board of Directors of the Chamber on August 5th and 6th, one day after the order for the former president’s house arrest.

The case was brought before the Council on October 7th. Of 16 cases related to the episode, only three advanced to analysis, the rest resulted in verbal or written warnings.

The rapporteur was chosen after a draw held throughout the week. Initially, deputies Zé Haroldo Cathedral (PSD-RR) and Castro Neto (PSD-PI) were nominated, but withdrew. The other person drawn with Moses Rodrigues was deputy Josenildo (PDT-AP).

Furthermore, Marcos Pollon must be the target of a second disciplinary procedure, related to offenses directed at the president of the Chamber, Arthur Lira (PP-AL). In this case, the rapporteur must present the admissibility opinion next week. Pollon, in a demonstration in favor of amnesty, called the president of the Chamber, (Republicanos-PB), “shit” and “short at 1.60 m” in an attempt to pressure him into recommending pardoning the sentences for those convicted on January 8, 2023.

After confirmation from the rapporteur, Moses Rodrigues now has 10 working days to present a report recommending or not the continuation of the complaint. If accepted, during the process the three parliamentarians will be asked to present their defenses.

The decision to send the case to the Ethics Council, taken by Hugo Motta, occurred after the magistrate Diego Coronel (PSD-BA) pointed out signs of conduct considered serious. Behind the scenes, party leaders believe that the shipment was made late.
