Funkia Siebolda is a lush, impressive perennial plant from the Asparagaceae family, which usually grows to 50 cm – 90 cm in height, although there are also taller specimens. The plant is ideal as a background for other plants in flower beds because it has exceptionally decorative, wide and heart-shaped leaves.

It immediately catches their attention (blue-green in a cool shade, although it may change under the influence of light). The wax coating is also impressive, for which reason this species is often called Blue Fungus. Moreover, in summer the hosta also delights with the sight of bright, small, paniculate flowers.

If you want to grow Funkia Siebolda (or another variety of this plant), you need to obtain appropriate rhizomes or cuttings taken from . These are not expensive. You will pay no more than PLN 20-30 for them.

Once you buy them and choose a place in the garden, try to keep at least 40 cm of distance between two seedlings, because they grow quickly. The optimal conditions for growing Funkia Siebolda are fertile, permeable soil with quite high humidity and a semi-shady, or preferably shaded, position.

It is a plant resistant to frost, strong winds and rains. In the autumn and winter it is almost maintenance-free. However, in spring and summer it is worth watering it moderately. Especially during hot weather. It is not necessary to fertilize the hosta, although in May it can be used with a multi-component fertilizer for ornamental garden species.
