Massage not only has a positive health effect on physical health and the ability to move and play sports, but also works to relieve stress. Sports masseur Dávid Lesňák stated this in the TASR TV Zdravie program. According to him, the massage can be chosen in such a way that it responds to the specific needs of a person. “We have places on the body that, when massaged, can relieve stress,” he said.
- Massage has health effects on physical and mental health.
- It helps with problems with muscles, tendons, or stress relief.
- The combination of massage and exercise supports a person’s overall health.
- Ordinary people prefer back and neck massage because of their sedentary lifestyle.
- Sports massages are designed to improve performance and regeneration.
If we need to support the musculoskeletal system, massage can help, for example, with problems with muscles or injured tendons. “It is mainly about breaking down muscle spasms and induration that are found in different parts of the body,” added Lesňák. According to him, it is optimal to combine massages with exercise. “It goes hand in hand. Massage in combination with movement ensures that a person not only feels healthier, but also is healthier.” stated Lesňák.
According to the expert, ordinary people most often prefer back and neck massage. “It’s mainly because of the job where we sit a lot,” evaluated. “The human musculoskeletal system is designed to move, not to sit permanently,” he reminded. As he explained, the blood circulation in the body develops during the massage, the lymph flows, the muscles, nervous system and nerve endings are relaxed.
In contrast to ordinary people, who mainly use classic massage, those who are involved in sports tend to undergo a sports or regeneration massage as well. “Sports massage is supposed to stimulate the muscles for better sports performance and prevent any injury from occurring. Regenerative massage, on the other hand, is supposed to help calm the muscles or solve health complications that arose during sports.” he explained.
According to Lesňák, massages are suitable for everyone. However, he warned that some massages could be problematic for people with skin problems. “On the other hand, pregnant women can also have a massage, but not until the third month,” concluded.
