Moraes authorizes Mauro Cid to participate in his grandmother’s 90th birthday

The minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Alexandre de Moraes, authorized this Friday, the 24th, the trip of ex-president Jair Bolsonaro’s former aide-de-camp, lieutenant colonel Mauro Cid, to the get-together in celebration of his maternal grandmother’s 90th birthday.

Cid was sentenced by the Supreme Court to two years in open prison for five crimes related to the coup plot. With authorization, he will be able to leave on November 1st to attend the event, which will take place from 6pm, at Condomínio Solar de Athenas, in Sobradinho (DF).

“It is worth highlighting the provisional nature of this decision, which does not exempt the applicant from complying with the other precautionary measures imposed on him,” stated Moraes in the decision.

In addition to authorizing the departure, the minister asked the State Secretariat for Penitentiary Administration of the Federal District to monitor Cid’s electronic ankle bracelet in detail during the fraternization period.

When presenting the request, Cid’s defense claimed that the request had a humanitarian and exceptional nature, maintaining that the former aide-de-camp had already served his two-year sentence in full, although he was still subject to precautionary measures.

In September, Cid’s defense had requested the sentence be extinguished, but the request was not granted by Moraes.
