After months of attacks on Ukrainian positions in the vicinity of Pokrovskoe, Russian soldiers managed to penetrate this city located in the Donetsk region. This was reported by the DPA agency on Sunday, referring to the information of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces published on Facebook.
According to them, several small groups of Russian soldiers infiltrated the city and bypassed the Ukrainian defense lines. It is about 200 soldiers who engaged in heavy fighting with Ukrainian troops. Both sides also deployed combat drones in them.
Intense fights with drones
The fighting in Pokrovsk is characterized by “high dynamism and intensity,” the Ukrainian General Staff said. In addition, the Russian army is trying to break through Ukrainian defense lines using tanks and infantry fighting vehicles.
The General Staff denied the claims of the Russian side that the Ukrainian troops in Pokrovsk were completely surrounded. On the contrary, he claims that large areas in its vicinity have been recaptured, which has stabilized the situation in this sector and along the access roads to Pokrovsko.
In the last ten days, Ukrainian forces recaptured the villages of Kučeriv Jar and Suchecke, located north of Pokrovsko, the General Staff said. The DPA agency noted that this information cannot be independently verified, but according to the DeepState interactive map, which monitors the situation on the battlefield and whose creators have ties to the military, they are under the control of Kiev.
