CNI assesses that meeting between Lula and Trump is concrete progress towards reversing tariffs

The National Confederation of Industry stated, in a note published on the morning of Sunday, the 26th, that the meeting between President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and the President of the United States, Donald Trump, meant “concrete progress” in the negotiations to reverse the 50% tariff on Brazilian products.

“The dialogue between the two leaders represents a concrete advance in bilateral negotiations and reinforces the commitment of both governments to building balanced solutions for trade between Brazil and the United States”, states the CNI note.

The president of the CNI, Ricardo Alban, said that the sector believes that, after the meeting, there will be a solution to the tariff. According to him, an eventual agreement will return “predictability and competitiveness to Brazilian exports”.

The CNI made itself available to technically contribute to the resumption of relations between Brazil and the United States “without abusive fees”. The entity also defended that negotiations between countries revolve around areas such as renewable energy, biofuels, critical minerals and technology.
