At 19, the Brazilian becomes the second youngest champion of an ATP 500 tournament

The young Brazilian tennis player won the second title of his career this Sunday (26), by defeating Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich and becoming da champion.

João closed the game in 2 sets to 0, with partials of 6-3 and 6-4, in one hour and 25 minutes. At 19 years old, the Brazilian becomes the second youngest champion of an ATP 500 tournament, the third category after the Grand Slams and Masters 1000, since the Spaniard, champion of and in Barcelona in 2022.

Thanks to the title in Basel, the second after the ATP 250 in Buenos Aires, in February this year, João will enter the Top 30 for the first time in the ATP rankings.

In turn, Davidovich, 26, will have to continue searching for his first title on the circuit. The defeat in the Swiss tournament was the fourth in a final this year, and the fifth in the Spaniard’s career.
