Opposition mocks Lula’s meeting with Trump in Malaysia

Bolsonaro’s children and allies say that Lula was bothered by the Republican’s praise and that the meeting was “good news”

Opposition politicians used their social media profiles this Sunday (Oct 26, 2025) to question and mock the meeting between the president (PT) and the president of the United States, (Republican Party), in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). The 2 are in the country to participate in the 47th Asean (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Summit.

Before the meeting, Trump was questioned by journalists about the (PL) trial, one of the arguments used by the White House to justify the 50% tariff on Brazilian products. The Republican responded: “I always liked him. I feel really bad about what happened.”

Journalist Raquel Krähenbühl, from GloboNews, asked if Bolsonaro would be on the meeting’s agenda. Trump reacted: “It’s none of your business”.

During the meeting, Lula said that the former president had a fair trial. The North American listened and did not respond.

The PT member’s speech and Trump’s praise for Bolsonaro were cited by opposition politicians, who stated that the issue had bothered the Brazilian president.
