- PS ruled out cooperation with Hlas-SD after the elections.
- Šimečka emphasized the need to improve communication with voters.
- According to Šimeček, the adoption of laws is the responsibility of the coalition, not the opposition.
The leader of the opposition PS Michal Šimečka thinks that his movement, SaS, KDH and the Democrats could be an alternative to the current government in the future. This follows from his statement in the Sunday discussion show Politika 24 on Joj 24. He declared that PS will behave responsibly after the elections. He ruled out that the PS would join the government with Hlas-SD after the elections. He admitted that the movement could communicate more with potential voters.
“This composition can offer people hope for a better country, for a stable government that will not fall apart within two months, that will be able to take difficult decisions, that will be able to return us to Europe, that will start economic growth (…) I will work to convince people that this is an alternative to the destruction and madness they have today.” declared Šimečka.
According to Šimeček, the key is to focus on the economy. “The economy, economic growth and its start-up is an absolutely key thing. There we also have short-term measures in our program. Abolition of the transaction tax, reduction of the levy burden on labor, which will be the second highest in Europe, which is why we have such weak economic growth – of course, the government will have to devote itself to the real recovery of public finances from the first day, because I am afraid that this government will not be able to recover our public finances in any fundamental way until the elections, reduce the deficit and reduce the debt,” he concluded.
At the same time, the leader of the movement emphasized that the adoption of laws is the responsibility of the coalition. He ruled out that there was a mistake on the part of the opposition in connection with the adoption of the amendment to the Gambling Act. According to him, she had no possibility to reverse the decision.
