Lula said that the topic was mentioned during the conversation with the President of the United States, Donald Trump, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) said this Monday (27) that Brazil is willing to contribute to a peaceful solution to the Venezuela crisis and argued that the problem must be resolved “at the negotiation table, and not by bullets”.
Lula said that the topic was mentioned. “I was the one who got into the matter, because the material I gave him included the issue of Venezuela. I know the situation and I think it is important to be resolved at the negotiation table”, said the president, at a press conference in the Malaysian capital.
The United States has been carrying out attacks on vessels allegedly in the service of drug trafficking and has positioned military vessels in the Caribbean Sea, which aroused Lula’s concern.

Lula reinforced to Trump that Brazil has experience in mediating political crises and cited the Group of Friends of Venezuela, created in 2003, as an example of successful dialogue. “Brazil has already helped to strengthen Venezuelan democracy once. I think it is possible to find a solution, if there is a willingness to negotiate”, he stated.
