Javier Milei's party wins the legislative elections in Argentina

The Argentine president’s party, La Libertad Avanza (LLA), has won with 40.8% of the votes, according to official data with more than 90% counted.

The far-right force also won the Senate election, winning in six of the eight districts that renewed representatives in the Upper House.

Election day passed normally and recorded a turnout of 66%, the lowest since the return to democracy in 1983.

These elections represent the first national test for Milei since he came to power in December 2023 and reinforce his attempt to expand the parliamentary majority to approve his fiscal adjustment and economic deregulation program.
