Journalists sing “Happy Birthday” to Lula in Malaysia; watch

Foreign reporters and cameramen in Malaysia congratulated the Brazilian president, who turns 80 this Monday (Oct 27).

The president (PT) published on his social networks this Monday (Oct 27, 2025) a message in which foreign journalists sing “Happy Birthday” (“Congratulations to You”in Portuguese) for him. The images were taken by the President’s photographer, during an official visit to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

In the video, Lula passes through a corridor, flanked by the first lady, Janja Lula da Silva, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, when the journalists begin to sing. “Upon arrival at the East Asia Summit, I received an unexpected congratulation from foreign journalists”Lula wrote in the post.

Lula this Monday (Oct 27). He is the oldest Chief Executive in the history of Brazil. Born in 1945 in Caetés, at the time the district of Garanhuns (PE), the PT member has accumulated almost half a century of political life.

From union leader in São Paulo’s ABC to Planalto’s victory after his arrest in Lava Jato, his trajectory also encompasses transformations in the country. He is the only president elected 3 times by direct vote.

Parallel to the summit, on Sunday (Oct 26), Lula with the president of the United States, (Republican Party), who was also in the country. Among the issues discussed were the 50% tariffs on Brazilian products imported into the USA than in August.

A meeting between the two had been expected since what they had behind the scenes at the UN General Assembly (United Nations) in September.
