With just over a month to go before the election of the presidency of the City Council of , councilors from the mayor’s base () articulated the , which has contradicted Milton Leite, former president of the House and former councilor for almost 30 years.

and has already signaled to colleagues that he intends to continue leading the House. Teixeira’s deputy, João Jorge (MDB) has been running around offices to ask for votes for the current president.

Milton Leite, however, says that the mayor knows that there is an agreement, including with the consent of the president of the MDB, Baleia Rossi, who grants the presidency of the Chamber to the Union.

The former president of the House indicated that he preferred that his political godson Silvão Leite (União) assume the presidency.

Silvão’s allies, however, find it increasingly difficult to install him as president. Leite’s patron is in his first term and is seen as an extension of the former president, who, even after retirement, tries to maintain his influence in the Legislative and Executive branches.

The doubt that hangs in the House today is whether Teixeira will have the courage to pick a fight with the former president.

If Silvão is indeed a candidate, he must face João Jorge, with the support of Nunes. PSOL is expected to launch a candidacy to make a statement — probably from Keit Lima. The election is scheduled for December 15th.
