Russia says it shot down 193 Ukrainian drones overnight

Ministry of Defense says one person died and 5 were injured in an attack in the Bryansk region

The Russian Defense Ministry stated this Monday (Oct 27, 2025) that its forces shot down 193 Ukrainian drones during Sunday night (Oct 26). According to Russian authorities, one person died and 5 were injured after a minibus was hit in the Bryansk region, on the border with Ukraine.

Of the total drones shot down, around 40 were on their way to the Russian capital, Moscow. The Federal Air Transport Agency reported that 2 of Moscow’s airports, Domodedovo and Zhukovsky, were temporarily closed for security reasons.

Russia claims that Ukraine has intensified the use of drones and missiles against oil refineries and energy facilities, while Moscow has continued attacking Ukrainian electrical infrastructure since the start of the war in February 2022.

In previous statements, Ukrainian officials said the offensives targeted strategic infrastructure used by the Russian army and denied intentional attacks on civilians.
