Tea is not just for warming up, it helps with every ailment: Which one should you drink?

While Czechs mostly liked coffee, we shouldn’t forget about tea with its miraculous effects. It is certainly not just a drink that comes to mind when “the flu creeps up on us”. Tea works wonders in many situations. Judge for yourself…

How are we doing with tea drinking? Compared to coffee, which the average Czech consumes around three to four kilograms per year (which corresponds to two to three cups a day), we are much worse off with tea. Each of us needs about 0.7 kg of tea leaves for the whole year. The truth is that it is a much lighter material, but even so, we could compare our consumption with, for example, record holders in tea drinking, who drink tea from 4 kilograms of this raw material per year.

Can you guess which country we are talking about now? Whoever would bet on one of the Asian nations would certainly go for it logically, but incorrectly. The mentioned record is held by the Turks and it is not incomprehensible. While drinking tea is an ancient ritual in Asia, the Turks consume this drink literally throughout the day as part of their routine.

The elixir of health in many forms

But let’s go back to the effects of tea, or rather its individual types, which are also on our market, but perhaps we sometimes don’t realize it due to ignorance. In general, we can perceive tea as a soothing drink, and even as an elixir of health. It has so many benefits for our body that we would need a very strong book to list them. We could talk about heart support as well as immunity and more and more positives. But it is important to focus on the differences in different types of tea, because only then can we choose the best one for the right moment.

Caffeine from black tea for stimulation

Probably the most well-known tea in our region is the black tea, i.e. fully fermented, which we usually buy and brew for breakfast. It has a higher caffeine content (yes, caffeine – just like coffee) and therefore becomes the ideal starter for a successful full day. In addition, the theaflavins present in black tea support heart health, help lower bad cholesterol levels and stabilize blood sugar levels. Among other things, this can also lead to an easier weight loss process.

Green tea for better digestion

Some of us prefer green tea, which is also a very good choice, especially when we need to sharpen the mind and focus, but at the same time, they will also help to regulate the metabolism. It is a non-fermented form of tea leaves, which is why we find in them a greater concentration of so-called catechins, which are even more beneficial for weight loss than the substances contained in black tea. The antioxidant effects then fight stress and promote a visibly fresh feeling of the skin.

White tea brings longer youth

While black and green tea are common terms, white tea is encountered by a smaller percentage of us, although it is a great shame. It is the least processed type of tea, which is kept in the cup until preparation. It rejuvenates the skin, protects cells from damage caused by oxidative stress and contains a lot of minerals and vitamins that the body will welcome to restore overall vitality. Isn’t it a shame that we kind of forget about this type of tea?

Oolong – or “something between…”

Finally, we cannot fail to mention oolong tea, partially oxidized, which can be characterized as a combination of black and green tea. It offers the benefits of both mentioned types in one drink, and it also has an interesting full and rich taste. It is therefore an ideal choice for tea lovers who enjoy variety.

So that we don’t spoil nature’s miracles

While tea brings us a lot of beneficial substances, it is us, the people, who can thwart all its efforts in an instant – and that by wrong preparation. Do not forget that white and green tea cannot stand boiling water, we can only water them with water at a temperature between 60 – 80 °C. Instead, we will use the boiling water for black tea. The leaching time is also important. Do not count on the fact that the longer we leave the tea leaves in the water, the better the drink will be. After a while, the delicious drink turns into a bitter liquid that is hard to swallow. do you drink tea Perhaps now you will look at him from a slightly different angle and take him at his mercy.
