When the weather outside is not pleasant, a warming and nutritious dinner becomes real relief. In autumn, our tables feature various types of filling goulashes, aromatic soups and oven-baked casseroles. When looking for quick and tasty recipes, it is worth choosing cowboy frying pan. What is it?
Cowboy frying pan is an extremely simple dinner which, as the name suggests, is prepared in one pan. The first violin plays here minced meat (we can use beef, pork, a mixture of the two or less fatty poultry) and potatoes (necessarily with rosemary).
True gourmets, not afraid of culinary experiments, they can prepare the dish with buffalo meat – then the cowboy frying pan will actually bring to mind dishes from the Wild West. If you are preparing cowboy frying pan for the first time, we recommend doing it with plain ground beef (for example beef shoulder). Good quality will also be useful bacon. What else will you need to do cowboy frying pan? Here is the full list of ingredients:
- 450 g of ground beef from the shoulder,
- 100 g bacon,
- 400 g potatoes,
- medium onion,
- 2 cloves of garlic,
- a spoon of rapeseed oil,
- a teaspoon of oregano,
- a teaspoon of rosemary,
- a teaspoon of ground sweet pepper,
- half a teaspoon of ground smoked paprika,
- half a teaspoon of ground hot pepper (optional, we can skip it if we don’t like spicy dishes),
- a can of chopped tomatoes,
- a can of canned red beans,
- 250 ml of vegetable broth,
- parsley,
- salt and pepper.
Preparation method:
- First we prepare the ingredients. Cut the onion into small cubes and do the same with the bacon. Peel the potatoes and cut them into slightly smaller pieces.
- Fry the onion and bacon in a large frying pan with a tablespoon of rapeseed oil. Add the pressed garlic cloves and continue to fry (being careful not to burn the garlic).
- After about 2-3 minutes of frying, add the minced meat and crumble it with a wooden spatula. Mix everything and then season with rosemary, oregano, ground pepper, salt and pepper.
- When the meat is fried, add the beans, chopped tomatoes and previously chopped potatoes. Pour the broth over everything. Cover the pan and simmer everything until the potatoes are soft.
- Finally, add chopped parsley to the dish.
Cowboy frying pan it’s the perfect option for a warming and filling dinner. It can be served with bread, rice or without any additions. This type of dish is sure to please the whole family.
