- Ukraine will start exporting its weapons from November.
- It will focus on increasing the production of drones and ammunition.
- The export of surplus weapons is supposed to finance domestic production.
- Potential buyers are the USA, European countries and other partners.
Zelensky announced the plan to start exporting some surplus types of weapons back in September. The goal is to use the sales proceeds to finance domestic military production, primarily equipment that has proven itself in attacks deep in Russia. Already then, he mentioned several potential buyers, including the US, European countries and other partners who are interested in Ukrainian weapons and from whom Kyiv received various forms of support.
During the war, Ukraine built up its own weapons production
In recent months, the Ukrainian president has offered to sell Ukrainian drones to the United States on several occasions, but these proposals have not yet been implemented.
The AFP agency recently wrote that although Ukraine has been heavily dependent on funding and arms supplies from Western countries since the beginning of the Russian invasion in 2022, despite the ongoing war, it has built its own domestic production of weapons and various attack systems, especially drones.
