Istanbul – A magnitude 6.1 earthquake shook western Turkey. According to the Afad disaster management agency, the epicenter was in the Sindirgi district of the western Turkish province of Balikesir. The quake occurred at 10:48 p.m. at a depth of 5.99 kilometers. The tremors were also felt in the metropolises of Istanbul and Izmir. No damage has been reported for the time being, emergency services are on site, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya wrote on X.
