In an episode that intensifies the clash between sectors of the PT in Rio, the mayor of Maricá and national vice-president of the party, Washington Quaquá, accused leaders linked to the Planalto of using the federal machine to “make their own politics” and of disregard for President Lula. In response, the party leader in the Chamber of Deputies, Lindbergh Farias, classified the supporter as “despicable” and “smelling of sewage”.
Quaquá’s publication in Instagram stories, which was also accompanied by a text sent via WhatsApp, is directed at Lindbergh, the Lula government’s special secretary for parliamentary affairs, André Ceciliano, and even the minister of Institutional Relations, Gleisi Hoffmann.
By sharing a video in which Lindbergh and Ceciliano appear alongside the mayor of the municipality of Casimiro de Abreu, the leader criticized the fact that Lula is only mentioned “at the end and for a second”, while the mayor of Rio and likely candidate for governor, Eduardo Paes (PSD), “was not even mentioned”.

“Lindbergh and Ceciliano using their influence with @gleisihoffmann to pursue their own politics”, alleged the mayor of Maricá.
Gleisi is the girlfriend of the leader of the party in the Chamber, while Ceciliano’s position in the government is linked to the minister’s portfolio. In addition to the publication itself, Quaquá sent the link, with additional text, to some contacts. Here, it’s even tougher:
“Here in Rio, the use of the federal machine by Lindbergh and Ceciliano is only for them! They don’t even talk about Lula! They don’t organize anything to campaign for President Lula and Eduardo Paes!”

In response, Lindbergh wrote, also online, that it feels “lazy and a sense of a waste of time to have to respond to a figure that I, increasingly, consider despicable”. He also used the expressions “low level” and “sewage smell” to refer to Quaquá.
“The works that Ceciliano and I spoke to the mayor (of Casimiro de Abreu) were selected in the PAC at the beginning of the Lula government. Gleisi wasn’t even a minister. I wonder why such a gratuitous attack on Gleisi, as well as the persecution of Benedita – trying to prevent her candidacy for the Senate”, continued the parliamentarian, while evoking the internal dispute that divides the party between sectors that support the federal deputy Benedita da Silva and the Quaquá wing, which now raises the possibility of launching Neguinho da Beija-Flor.
The party leader in the Chamber also claimed that, in the political field, “this element often adopts positions contrary to the PT, harming party actions and our political recovery”.
“It was like this when defending the amnesty for those involved in the January 8 attacks and, later, the PEC defense of Blindagem”, he said, before stating that Quaquá “surpluses” in the PT.
In recent months, the different sectors of the party in the state have already been expressing disagreements over the 2026 election. The main point today is the dispute for the Senate.
Benedita is the name encouraged by Lindbergh, Ceciliano and professionals such as the minister of Racial Equality, Anielle Franco, and the president of Embratur, Marcelo Freixo. Quaquá and allies, in turn, expressed support for samba singer Neguinho da Beija-Flor, who they want to join the PT. The mayor of Maricá also indicated support for the candidacy of Alessandro Molon (PSB).
