Netanyahu accused Hamas of violating the ceasefire
“The occupiers are now bombing Gaza. They have carried out at least three airstrikes, despite the ceasefire agreement,” said Mahmoud Bassal, a spokesman for the authority. Witnesses told the French news agency AFP that they heard explosions. The AP agency also reports on explosions and tank fire in Gaza City. One rocket landed near Šifá hospital.
On Tuesday, Netanyahu accused Hamas of violating the cease-fire and then ordered the army to immediately carry out intensive attacks on the Gaza Strip.
Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Kac claims that Palestinian militants have attacked Israeli troops, to which the army will respond decisively, according to him. Hamas also accused of violating the agreement on handing over the bodies of the hostages.
Since the start of the ceasefire, Hamas has said it is having trouble finding all the bodies of the hostages
Tensions over the ceasefire rose after Hamas handed over the remains of another hostage on Monday. However, according to the Prime Minister of Israel, it was part of the hostage’s remains, most of which were recovered by the Israeli army in December 2023. Since the beginning of the ceasefire, Hamas has repeatedly claimed that it has a problem finding all the remains of the hostages. Some bodies are apparently located in areas beyond the so-called along the yellow line, where the Israeli troops withdrew as part of the ceasefire.
Hamas had planned to hand over the body of another hostage on Tuesday, but postponed it in response to the latest developments.
