Even Elon Musk’s mother praised the moment that was captured on video. But the driver himself admitted that he was the one driving.

The autonomous driving system of the Tesla It has been the target of critics, countless times, who claim – in some cases rightly so – that it was responsible for an accident.

But, in recent days, the idea that has spread has been the opposite: the Tesla’s autopilot would have prevented a plane crashwhich was practically in free fall – and ended up crashing.

It happened last Thursday, in Oklahoma (USA), where an Air Force plane, the OA-1K Skyraider II, crashed shortly after starting its journey.

Seconds before crashing, the plane passed just a few meters from a road, where there were several cars. One of them was a Tesla, which almost collided with the plane.

The “news” quickly spread: it was Tesla’s autonomous driving system that avoided the collision.

Even Maye Musk published:

It’s normal for Elon Musk’s mother to praise one of her son’s companies.

Detail: the Tesla was not on autopilot.

The person who published the video, and who was driving, clarified on TikTok, in the comments: “I was driving manually. The autopilot is really good but it would have completely destroyed that plane”.

The Tesla cult sees miracles where there are none, reads the portal, which leaves a warning about this “dangerous propaganda”: In other words, people rely – too much – on these autonomous systems, making it easier when they drive. And misinformation doesn’t help.

The autopilot is impressive, it’s a great help – but the driver, the person, is always responsible and must always be ready to take control of the steering wheel.

In short, as indicated by: “Don’t listen to Tesla fans on social media” in this case. Because it was a human thinking quickly, not the car.
