A report from the Paraná Criminal Police states that the electronic ankle bracelet used by , one of the defendants in the coup plot case, had a technical failure for two minutes last Thursday (23).
The document was sent to the minister, rapporteur of the case, last Saturday (25).
This Tuesday (28), however, Moraes asked for explanations again about the momentary loss of signal on Martins’ monitoring equipment, who is under house arrest in Ponta Grossa (PR).
According to the Paraná police report, there was a loss of GPS signal on the device from 6:51:22 pm on Tuesday (23) until 6:53:22 pm on the same day. During the period, Martins, a former international advisor, remained at his home. No justification is given for the failure.
Martins’ lawyers argue that they cannot be held responsible for the technical problem.
They also remember that on at least three occasions, judge Thiago Bertuol de Oliveira, from the 3rd Criminal Court of Ponta Grossa, reiterated that the defendant has been fully complying with all the precautionary measures imposed, without fault or violation.
The magistrate also reported that the signal problems were due to technical factors, such as the rugged terrain of Ponta Grossa and the fact that Filipe lives in a building surrounded by other buildings.
