Ľudovít Štúr was a person who, with his personality, education and political talent, significantly influenced the existence of the Slovak nation. At key historical moments, he demonstrated determination and presented a spiritual, cultural and political vision for his own nation. On the occasion of the 210th anniversary of the birth of Štúr, which we commemorate these dayssaid President Peter Pellegrini on the social network.

The head of state emphasized that Štúr and his companions dedicated their entire lives to the service of the people, regardless of the obstacles and political pressure they had to face. “They never betrayed their own values and with their struggle for cultural, linguistic and political rights they significantly influenced the national emancipation process of the Slovak nation,” the president noted.
He urged that this anniversary should not only be a reminder of the past, but also a message for contemporaries that without a clear vision and service to our own nation we cannot build a cohesive and prosperous society.
