US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he was unable to arrange a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un during a visit to South Korea. He refuted speculations about a joint summit between the two leaders. TASR informs about it according to the report of the AFP agency.

The head of the White House expressed interest in meeting with Kim during his trip to Asia. DPRK has not officially released a response to the invitation and tested cruise missiles hours before Trump’s visit off its west coast, Pyongyang reported.
“I know Kim Jong-un very well… we really couldn’t agree on a date,” Trump declared. He stressed that he would try to “settle” tensions between Pyongyang and Seoul when he meets South Korean President Il Jae-myong. The South Korean leader welcomed Trump’s invitation to the DPRK leader, saying it had created a “significant sense of warmth and peace on the Korean Peninsula.”
The US president said on Wednesday that he expected to meet with Kim in the “not too distant future”. “We’re going to deal with North Korea at some point. I think they’d like that and I’d like that as well.” he told reporters aboard Air Force One.
Trump met with Kim three times during his first term. Their last meeting took place in Panmunjom – the demilitarized zone that separates the two Koreas. However, the negotiations collapsed due to disagreements on the issue of nuclear weapons and the DPRK’s restrictions in this area.
