Bodies of two PMs killed in a mega operation will be buried at Bope

The bodies of sergeants Heber Carvalho da Fonseca and Cleiton Serafim Gonçalves, will be laid to rest this Thursday (30), at the headquarters of BOPE (Special Police Operations Battalion), in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro.

According to PMERJ (Military Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro), the wake will begin at 7am. The burial of Sergeant Heber Carvalho da Fonseca is scheduled for 11 am, at the Jardim da Saudade Cemetery, in Sulacap, in the West Zone. Sergeant Cleiton Serafim Gonçalves will take place at 4:30 pm, at the Mendes Municipal Cemetery, in the interior of the state.

The two police officers did not survive their injuries. Sergeant Cleiton Serafim, aged 42, joined the force in 2008 and leaves behind a wife and a daughter. Sergeant Heber, 39 years old, had been in the PM since 2011 and leaves behind a wife, two children and a stepson.

The operation in the Penha and Alemão Complexes is considered the most lethal in the state’s history. According to information from PCERJ (Civil Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro), the death toll now reaches 121including four security officers.

On Wednesday (29), they also lost their lives in the action. Commissioner Marcus Vinícius Cardoso de Carvalho, known as Máskara, aged 51, was laid to rest in the Cacuia Cemetery, on Governador Island, and buried at 1:30 pm. Inspector Rodrigo Velloso Cabral, 34 years old, had his wake held at the Rio Memorial Cemetery, in Cordovil, with burial at 4pm.
