The crew of the drug trafficking boat that killed a GNR soldier and injured three on the Guadiana River, in the Alcoutim area, are still on the run. A joint operation between the Portuguese and Spanish authorities is on the ground, but it has not yet produced any relevant results.
On land, during the morning of this Thursday, the dismounted GNR teams continued to explore the banks, with the help of tracking dogs.
In the area of the accident, boats with divers, military personnel and members of the Judiciary searched the river for anything that could give a more concrete direction to the investigation. On the Spanish side, authorities also continue to carry out investigationscoordinated with Portugal.
The number of suspects at large remains to be determined. There can be up to four. This is at least the maximum capacity of the boat that, in the early hours of Tuesday, to escape an attempt to intercept them.
No impact, a soldier died immediately and three others were injured.
The vessel, which is suspected to have been involved in a ended up catching fire shortly after the impact. It was abandoned by the occupants, who remain at large.
