The jewelry remains missing
French authorities have arrested five more suspects as part of the investigation into the robbery of the Louvre Museum in Paris.
The arrest took place on Wednesday night, in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, by the Banditry Repression Brigade.
According to the French station, which cites a police source, the five suspects are in police custody.
Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau said that “several targets targeted by investigators” had been arrested, but that “it is too early to describe their profiles”. However, he added that one of the suspects is linked to the robbery by “DNA traces”.
“We had him in our sights during the investigations”, declared the magistrate, adding that “the others can give us information about the development of the facts”.
The robbery, which exposed serious security flaws at the world’s most visited museum, occurred on the morning of October 19, during opening hours.
. According to the Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office, both “partially admitted” their involvement in the robbery.
