Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), authorized the beginning of compliance with the sentence of lieutenant colonel Mauro Cid in the action against the coup plot. Cid will be able to remove the electronic ankle bracelet, but will continue to comply with other obligations, such as the ban on leaving Brazil.
Cid was sentenced to two years in prison, but in an open regime, as part of his plea agreement. The lieutenant colonel was the only one of the eight defendants not to appeal the decision. Therefore, on Tuesday the STF had already ordered the end of the process in relation to him.
Moraes determined that Cid must participate in a hearing at the STF next Monday. After that, the ankle bracelet will be removed.
