Portimão Marina voted “best in Southern Europe” in international luxury award

That Portugal has its charms is no longer news to anyone who lives here. Increasingly, the country is internationally recognized for its gastronomy, culture, nature and now, also, for having the best marina in southern Europe.

Portimão Marina was chosen as the “best marina in Southern Europe” , award that distinguishes the best infrastructures in the tourism sector of luxury.

Located next to the Arade estuary, Portimão Marina has a capacity for 620 vessels, including superyachts up to 50 meters. It receives vessels from more than 20 nationalities and has direct access to the region’s beaches and caves.

The Portimão Marina also has technical support services, with a boat maintenance yard, with a 50 T Travel-Lift and a 300 T Travel-Lift, “being the largest gantry existing in Portugal”, reads the statement sent to the newsrooms.

It also stands out for its commercial area, a concessioned beach, an ocean swimming pool, and a 4-star hotel.

The Portimão Marina it is also “a pioneer in environmental sustainability practices, including selective waste collection systems, wastewater treatment, solar energy electric vehicle refueling stations and environmental education programs”, adds the note.

“Being considered the ‘best marina in southern Europe’ is a testimony (…) to the potential that Portimão and the Algarve have to assert themselves as nautical destinations of choice, capable of competing at the highest international level. We intend to invest, increasingly, in quality, innovation, sustainability and internationalization, reinforcing our position as a reference in luxury nautical tourism and in the economic and tourist development of the region”, highlights the CEO of Portimão Marina, João Machado da Silva.

The World Luxury Travel Awards highlight “the excellence and innovation” in luxury tourism, awarding every year hhotels, resorts, spas e, mmore recently, marinas around the world.

Competing entities are evaluated at various levels, such as country, region, continent and global, and recognized for the quality of the experience they provide to their visitors.

The distinctions result from public voting and evaluation by an international panel of experts, taking into account service excellence, attention to detail, quality of infrastructure, style and designefficiency, feedback of customers, marketingdiversity and location.
