No other dish is as closely linked to Austria as Wiener Schnitzel. Or, in its pork version, the Wiener-style schnitzel. Whether baked with oil or clarified butter, served with potato salad, parsley potatoes or bird salad, the dish can be varied depending on your taste. According to legend, it is said to be descended from the Milanese Cotoletta alla Milanese. In general, there are different versions of the schnitzel around the world. In Argentina there is Milanesa, in Japan breaded, schnitzel-like meat is known under the umbrella term Katsu. The “Taste Atlas” platform has now ranked the best schnitzels. The Wiener Schnitzel only came in seventh place.
