Louis Pasteur University Hospital (UNLP) in Košice has registered 53 hospitalizations of patients with the disease COVID-19 since September at the clinic of infectious diseases and travel medicine. UNLP spokeswoman Ladislava Šustová informed about this on Friday.
“Vaccination therefore remains an important part of prevention against the risk of a severe course of the disease, hospitalization or death. The risk group is mainly the elderly, chronically ill patients, cancer patients and people with weakened immunity,” the hospital warned. It also informed that the UNLP vaccination center is temporarily located in Poliklinika Juh at Rastislavová 45 on the ground floor.
Since the end of September, i.e. in more than a month, health workers at the UNLP vaccination center have administered the vaccine against COVID-19 to almost 4,500 applicants. They will administer the vaccine to 400 people per day. Compared to last year, they register a higher interest in vaccination.
“We coordinate vaccination dates with the National Center for Health Information according to the number of registrations. For up-to-date information, we recommend following the website of our hospital,” informed Šustová.
The next vaccination dates at UNLP Košice are November 4, 5 and 6. In the vaccination dates for unregistered interested parties, the hospital asks those waiting for patience and tolerance, as queues may form. At the same time, he reminds that it is possible to be vaccinated against influenza and COVID-19 at the same time, i.e. with both vaccines at the same time. “In this context, we ask patients not to bring their own vaccines for the flu vaccination – the necessary vaccination doses are provided exclusively by the hospital,” said the spokeswoman.
The hospital reminds that vaccination against COVID-19 is safe, verified and recommended by the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic, the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
