The rapporteur of the Proposed Amendment to the Constitution (PEC) of Public Security in the Chamber, deputy Mendonça Filho, confirmed this Friday, 31, in an interview with Eldorado Radiowhich will present the final report on the topic on December 4th. The text was sent by the government in April and expands federal participation in public security policy.
After the mega-operation that killed 121 people this week in Rio de Janeiro, the president of the Chamber, Hugo Motta, expressed his intention to conclude the vote on the proposal later this year.
Mendonça Filho criticized what he called “centralization in Brasília” and defended “a regime of collaboration between all federated entities”. For him, the role of the federal government should be to integrate the intelligence and database systems, in addition to reinforcing the structure of the penitentiary system.
