A humanitarian package from Slovakia to help the Palestinians and Sudanese arrived in Egypt, accompanied by Minister Blanár, who will also discuss bilateral cooperation.
Slovakia, with the participation of the head of diplomacy Juraj Blanár, brought to Egypt an almost two-ton shipment of humanitarian aid for civilians from the Gaza Strip and Sudan. In Egypt on Saturday, Blanár will hold working negotiations with representatives of the Egyptian government, sign an intergovernmental agreement on economic cooperation and participate in the opening of the Great Egyptian Museum. TASR was informed about this by the communications department of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.
Blanár explained that this is already the third package of material humanitarian aid provided by Slovakia and intended for the Ministry of Health and Population of Egypt, which provides medical aid to Palestinians and Sudanese on its territory. The latest shipment has a total weight of 1.8 tons and is worth 49,000 euros. It includes supplies of surgical gloves, surgical sutures, water bandages, solar lamps and eschus.
He will meet his counterpart
“Egypt is a strategic partner in the region, where it provides aid to civilians affected by war conflicts in Gaza, Sudan, but also in Libya. It provides these people with access to primary health care, which is vital for them, among other basic needs,” said Blanár. According to him, Slovakia is an important partner in this area.
As part of the work program, the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic will have a bilateral meeting with the head of the Egyptian diplomacy, Badr Abdalátí. On behalf of the Slovak Republic, he will sign an intergovernmental agreement on economic cooperation between Slovakia and Egypt with the Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Rania al-Mašatová.
Blanár will also participate in the opening ceremony of the Great Egyptian Museum in Cairo, one of the most important cultural projects of today. The long-awaited exhibition space, located near the pyramids of Giza, will become the largest museum in the world dedicated to a single civilization – ancient Egypt.
