The British Prime Minister described the incident as “terrifying and extremely disturbing.”

On Saturday, British police detained two suspects who stabbed several people with a knife on a train near the eastern English town of Huntingdon. TASR informs about it according to the AFP agency.

“We are currently responding to an incident on a train heading to Huntingdon where a number of people have been stabbed,” British Transport Police said on social media X. Cambridgeshire Police said “several people have been taken to hospital”.

The British Prime Minister described the incident as “terrifying and extremely disturbing.”

The London North Eastern Railway (LNER) has temporarily suspended all services on its lines and urged people to avoid travel.

The number of knife attacks in Britain has been increasing since 2011, according to official government figures. Starmer called the increasing attacks a “national crisis.” Almost 60,000 knives have therefore been “seized or surrendered” in England and Wales as part of the government’s drive to halve the number of knife crimes over ten years, the Home Office said on Wednesday.
